Feel like a quick escape to another world?by catherine
This week has been extremely rewarding, we are starting to see the shows come to life with another little piece falling into place each day. On Wednesday some of our cast members traveled to Reno to take part in a photo shoot for Rlife Magazine’s July issue. It was a wonderful opportunity for the Festival to help promote our coming season and I can’t wait to share the images with you next month. The entire wardrobe department worked round the clock in the days leading up to the shoot to ensure we had costumes for the actors who were available to travel to Reno to take part in this publicity opportunity. Soozi and Sharon are exceptionally talented and really wanted to ensure our cast looked spectacular – I think you’ll agree when you see the next issue of Rlife, their efforts more than paid off. Communicating with our community along with tourists coming to the area and ensuring our members/sponsors know what is happening at the Festival, is a huge part of the work we do at the Festival, particularly at this time of year. On Friday night (June 20) we hosted 20 travel writers from all over the country for a special dinner at our theatre as part of the Regional Marketing Committee’s efforts to help promote the destination. It was a very special evening and I left the venue thinking, more than ever, I can’t wait to see the shows this summer! One of the very special moments during the dinner came just after the end of the perfect hour. The mountains had transformed from a rich sunshine gold, to a soft rosy pink and were fading to an inky grey when the mesmerizing music of Kelvin Mockingbird filled the amphitheatre. Kelvin arrived in Tahoe on Thursday, I have been listening to his music for months and I have imagined what it will be like to hear him play live at the theatre. But nothing I imagined came close to what an absolutely perfect soundtrack he creates to the performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The first time you hear Kelvin play the flute in our magnificently beautiful setting, it will bring tears of joy to your eyes. I experienced the most amazing sense of clarity and hope when he began to play; his music will transport you to a place and time when the earth and the people who occupied the land lived together in harmony. His music is enchanting and I simply can’t wait for you to see it live at Sand Harbor, because the two together will create a moment you won’t forget this summer. Learn more about Kelvin Mockingbird and listen to some of his music. |
